Property in Weybridge
Weybridge addresses use the KT13 postcode district, and the local authority is Elmbridge Borough Council. The council lists two conservation areas in Weybridge: the Town Centre and Monument Green.
The council’s character appraisal for the Town Centre conservation area, endorsed in 2006, describes buildings ranging from the 16th to the 18th century, through early 19th-century villas, to late 19th-century terraces and Edwardian semi-detached houses. It says the railway station opened in 1838 and the town became a commuter area. Its appraisal for Monument Green, endorsed on the same day, describes houses of two to three storeys around two greens, mostly from the late 1800s or early 1900s, with Victorian villas on the west side and early 20th-century villas on the east.
The council’s 2012 character guide for Weybridge, since replaced by the council’s Design Code, describes an established residential area of larger family houses with mature gardens. It lists Victorian and Edwardian terraces and detached houses, small post-war estates including the Span-built Templemere, Brackley and Holme Chase, and large detached houses on St George’s Hill, and says Brooklands to the east is a non-residential area of retail park, offices and warehouses. These documents date from 2006 and 2012, so they show the area’s character rather than today’s market.
